Dear everyone,
An san is the oldest women among our member. She's 76 year old now.
She started to join our project since 2009 in our Koh Dach traning center.
She one of the best spiner, her hand made thread was very good.
An san were born in Koh Dach village during the France collony Cambodia.
During that time villagers grow cotton everywhere on the island including my
parent. Villagers collect cotton and they have to sell raw cotton to France.
And France will gin and make to thread or produce textile and sell them back
to villagers very expensive. People get very angery with france but thier's no choice.
Some villagers including my parent try to keep some raw cotton and spun them to
thread and produce textile or scarfs for themself but if France know they will arrested.
I was so young at that time,Mom ask me to watch the way,in case France come i have
to hint mom. But i did not know France. I just know France use to wear white hat.
Sometime i and my friends walk along cotton field and try to cottect the young cotton
fruit and we go to the river. We are swimming and play with young cotton fruit.
Young cotton fruid can eat, It's taste sweet, We through young cotton fruid to river and
we swim to catch them someone could catch is rewarded.
It was very good time and happy time for me and my friend.
When i was secondary student i have many friend and we love each other very much.
One we was allow to attend the king Shihanouk coronation. We come to Phnom penh.
It was a great pleasure for us.
I want to study more but mom do not allow me. She ask me to married with my hasband.
During that time girl have to marry very young age, everything depend on parent.
Mom love me so much that why she ask me to married and live with her.
I have twoo children, one boy,one girl.
During Pol Pot's era my life was miserable. They seperated us.
I was sent to work alone far from husband,childrens.
Some of my brother,sister was kill by Khmer Rough.
My daughter was so lucky. we got the new that khmer Rough will come to arrest her and kill
so my ancle brought her by boat to other village, just she leave a few minut Khmer Rough come
but could not find her. She survive till now.
After Khmer Rough time we meet our fimily and rebuild our life again till now.
In year 2009 NSC started organic cotton cultivation, spunning and weaving project
with support of Japan.I was so impress and i join the project since that time.
We nearly forgot how to spined thread because after Pol Pot time we import machine thread.
